My name is Yan Liu, a Master in Design Studies (MDes) student at Harvard Graduate School of Design (GSD). Before coming to GSD, I have worked at several Architecture and Urban Design consulting firms in Singapore, Boston, Paris and Hong Kong for two years.
I have a strong design background and experience in different types and scales of design including Product, Interaction, User Experience, Service, Architecture, Urban and AR/VR. Currently I am working as a AR/VR Lab Teaching Assistant at the Harvard Innovation Lab, mainly in charge of teaching Unity, 3D Modeling, Augmented Reality and Design Thinking to students; training them how to use the equipment and giving demonstrations to visitors who are interested in learning about AR/VR. I have also worked at MIT Media Lab and focused on a data-driven, evidence-based approach to modeling and simulating cities using various tools developed for the CityScope and Citymatrix platform.
After coming to the Harvard GSD, I have become increasingly interested in the intersection between art and technology. I am looking for an opportunity to immerse myself in the real working context, and I am excited to put what I have learned into practice.
